No one will ever utter these as their dying words: "I wish I had taken more HDR photos". HDR, the answer is still no.
Oh so sad. You must have forgotten that photography is about fun for some of us. For others its all about making the best picture possible, a representation of what they saw in the field. A well executed HDR captures much more than any single photograph could have. So please do keep taking photos with blown out highlights and lost shadows. Please do stay behind, ignoring new techniques and ideas. Making fun of others for having fun and creating better photographs will probably work out well for you.
Techniques are great ... but one still must take a good photograph. The technique becomes a mask for poor concept, execution and subject matter. If photography is your hobby, and just for fun, then you're not a photographer and none of this really applies. Plus, its all in good fun and anyone who takes offense to what I'm saying perhaps needs to get a sense of humor.
HDR? Spawn of Satan!
If I never, ever see another crappy, overdone HDR piece of crap, it will be too soon....
